Extraordinary in the Ordinary ...
My beloved Uncle ..Giri... i have grown up with his presence ...his daily morning calls and the pulsating happiness in the tone of my mom used to wake me up...and i knew it for sure that its her eldest brother and our favorite Uncle and I was always so glad to see my mom's face lit up.
For a moment all her pain from the daily grind would subside... all her grumblings would turn to squeals of laughter....
He's seen our family through thick and thins. His songs and his words ...his guidance ,his smiles his compassion and kindness are all part of our lives I had always taken him for granted in the sense I just thought this God amongst us is here to stay when suddenly one day the dream broke and Giri Uncle left us...though I still feel his presence but now I don't know how to reach out to him ...Tears roll down my cheeks when I remember each and every moment that he had spent with us ...we've truly felt his complete love for us and we are filled with gratitude for him.
I remember how very giving and innocent he was. Once at my cousin's extravagant and grand wedding where we were all given nice, luxurious and cozy rooms in a palace of Jodhpur ,Rajathan...
Uncle noticed a poor ,hardworking servant in his teens clad in murky, tattered and shabby clothes and was cold He was sleeping in the corridors lone and forgotten in the buzz of the grandiose marriage ceremony...He was shivering and was lying folded in a bunch... Uncle looked at him and stopped ... his face changed from mirth to concern and to my surprise he invited him to sleep in his room on the bed with him, He asked him to take a shower ...he called up room service and ordered hot chocolate for him and covered him with his own blanket and treated him like his son ...Next morning when my aunt arrived ...she was taken aback slightly ...to see the servant occupy her bed space...but understood the call in her husband and smiled ...stroking his hair lightly intending to not wake him up...she mumbled...so once again u are at it!...and got up to go...when my uncle opened his eyes and said ...well! so you are here... do u think we should order an extra bed ...and she replied ...i already have.He went on with his day normally....and so did my Aunt who was used to his extraordinary acts of kindness and love...of his all embracing attitude... but for me it was beyond the ordinary...
The boy still weeps for his God father... he was filled with awe at the unprejudiced approach towards him ...at the show of affection and concern that he had long forgotten...it brightens him up even today....
Godliness can be found deep within our beings... to externally seek it is a waste of time... He affirmed to that.
